100000% a win for me is getting to coach YOU as a writer. It's always a joy to read your writing and to watch you experiment and grow, and be so tenacious. You inspire me!
My other big win is almost finishing the first draft of my novel (!!) which has meant putting writing first, which has been hard and joyful. Thanks for asking!
Love this!! Some 2024 wins: Went to my first al-anon meeting, learned embroidery, and wrote the first draft of a novel. It was a hard year, but a good year.
This year I got kicked out of a women's networking and it really stung. I went through all kinds of emotions: anger, resentment, grief, and shame to name a few. I've always had an unfortunate tendency to poke at exposed nerves. I don't think I do it purposely but I do have an unerring ability to find those exposed nerves. The whole reason my business exists is to encourage heart-centered business owners to dare to be more authentic because it's what their audiences long for most. And part of authenticity includes being human and messy and from time to time being human and messy means we upset other people. Authenticity also means that the communities we really want to be a part of want us for all of us not just our "good girl" selves. So being rejected for me is a type of success even though it still hurts and it's not what I love about having a business.
Oh Judy, I love this comment SO much thank you for sharing! Those are exactly the emotions that can come up when we experience "rejection," and they sure are UNCOMFORTABLE.
I love that you're working to find communities that are fully accepting! (But of course, the most important thing is the beautiful work you do to fully accept yourself!) I am working on authenticity and you inspired me today.
You're so welcome. I think as human beings we're very often negotiating the tension between very much wanting to be valued by our peers AND wanting to be true to our dearest values. It sounds brave to always be true to ourselves but it means we're often discovering communities that we like for some reasons but they don't offer true belonging. May all of us practice more authentic expression in the coming year!
This is fabulous! One million views! That's huge, and such a thing to celebrate. And your observation that mindset matters just as much as talent really resonated with me. That's been true in my own life, too. Going into a challenge with the belief that I can learn how to tackle something has been so important for me.
