Thank you for writing this, Marika! I've been using Focusmate for months now (I imagine it's like Flow in your case) and it helps hugely. It's now an integral part of my routine. I didn't know it's called body doubling :)!
Love this idea. I’ve recently come across Ali Abdaal’s Youtube channel where he talks about using time intentionally, and I’m really trying to absorb this message. Time is everything -- we need to use it to our advantage.
Yes, but it's a tricky thing, because PRESSURE can be useful but can also easily tip over into stress, which means cortisol and fight/flight and that makes it hard to start or focus! I do like the word "intentional" to describe our time use. Though sometimes I discover things through spontaneity and I think that's important for my creativity, as well!
I’ve done a few sessions and they are pretty powerful! It’s something I’ve been thinking of offering for my new publication. I wondered if there was still power in it being prerecorded. And you just play it when you have your time set aside - and have it playing so you feel like you’re working with someone.
I think it could be really valuable if you paired it with an offering of some kind? A short quote or teaching or...? Like I really like those "plan with me" videos on youtube. So maybe it's a "work with me" type thing where you're talking aloud and leaving time for work?

Ooh yes! I was using Focusmate for awhile back in the pandemic. It's fascinating the way it "works!"

I love Ali Abdaal! His videos on journalling, showing up and newsletters led me to Substack. 😊
