I found your substack via your piece shared in a low demand parenting group that I’m in. It feels so meaningful to hear a story similar to mine and the way that you articulate the struggles means so much!

I read your piece. It is magnificent and it brought tears to my eyes with its tenderness and vulnerability.

My son is turning 17 soon and his behaviour mirrors so much of your son and I am still unpacking raising an undiagnosed child as a single parent. He is a beautiful young man and I love him so deeply and reading your story makes me feel so seen. Thank you

Thank you for commenting, Lisa! Raising an undiagnosed child as a single parent sounds incredibly challenging. My son is 13 now and he's changed SO much in the last couple of years. It's incredible!

A beautifully written essay that has obviously touched many readers - congratulations!! (And thank you for sharing that you worked on various versions of it for 2 years — that is encouraging to me as I continue working on essays, some that feel like they will never be “finished.”)

A belated thanks for this comment! I definitely think we have to make the process of writing and publishing more transparent. It's an ULTRA-MARATHON. (And I love reading updates on yours!)
